Begoro (E/R), Jan. 14, GNA – The Fanteakwa District Director of Education, Mr Stephen Peter-Andoh has attributed the low Pupil-Teacher Ratio in the District to low enrolment in the schools.
He noted that instead of the national ratio of one teacher per 33 pupils, the situation in the District was on the average, one to 27. Mr Peter-Andoh who was addressing head teachers at Begoro on Wednesday, expressed concern that despite the campaign to sensitise parents on the need to send their children to school, general enrolment was very low, especially in the deprived communities. He therefore urged the school heads to embark on house-to-house education campaign to help increase enrolment.
Mr Peter-Andoh called for teamwork among stakeholders to raise the standard of education in the District.
The Deputy District Director of Education, Mr Ernest Mike Ansah Yeboah asked teachers to prepare comprehensive lesson notes and use their lecture time productively.
