President commended for shifting Youth Sector to Ministry of Manpower

Kumasi, Jan 14, GNA- The President has been commended for detaching the Youth Sector from the Ministry of Education and Sports, to Manpower Development and Employment.

Mr Opoku-Agyemang Prempeh, Managing Director of Lakayana Company, a private venture, said the placement of the Youth Sector under the Manpower Development and Employment Ministry would ensure that youth issues are accorded the desired attention.

Mr Prempeh who spoke to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Thursday expressed the need for more resources to be committed to youth development.

He said the youth should be exposed to sound moral values beside national efforts to train them to acquire vocational and technical skills.

Mr Prempeh said it was only when the youth are disciplined and morally upright that they could be better trained and educated to take up more responsible leadership positions. He entreated the Manpower Ministry to take up the challenge of establishing secretariats at the regional and district levels to champion the course of the youth.
