Driver granted 10 million cedis bail for fraud

Tema, Jan. 14, GNA – The Tema Circuit Court ‘A’ has granted a driver 10 million cedis bail for defrauding a man of 2.4 million cedis at Ashaiman near Tema.

Kwaku Normeku Adzi pleaded not guilty and will reappear on January 26, 2005.

Prosecuting, police Chief Inspector Sarah Aggrey Acquah told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that, the accused collected 2.4 million cedis from the complainant under the pretext of renting a drinking bar at Ashaiman for him to operate.

She said after taking the money, the accused turned round to tell the complainant that the land where the bar was built did not belong to him and had to seek permission from the owner before giving it to him. Chief Inspector Acquah said after several months, the accusedfailed to release the bar to the complainant, a report was then made to the Ashaiman police, and the accused was arrested, granted bail, but failed to report, and criminal summons was served on him.
