Government presents vehicles to NFED

Sunyani Jan 12, GNA- The government on Wednesday presented seven Nissan Pick Up vehicles to the Brong Ahafo Regional Office of the Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) of the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports in Sunyani.

Nana Kwadwo Seinti, Regional Minister, who presented the vehicles cautioned against the use of the vehicles for unofficial trips, including funerals and wedding ceremonies.

He said the government gesture was meant to improve the division’s performance and urged the district directors to take record of damaged vehicles so those responsible could be surcharged.

“The vehicles must be used by professional drivers and they must avoid speeding and careless behaviour on the roads to prevent accidents”, the Regional Minister added.

Mr. Andrews Kwasi Oppong, Regional Director of NFED thanked then government for the donation and pledged that the vehicles would be used judiciously.

He noted that the vehicles would help to facilitate the distribution of teaching and learning materials in the various zones in the region.

The Regional Director said Techiman, Wenchi, Nkoranza, Asunafo, Tano, Atebubu and Jaman districts would be the beneficiaries, adding efforts were being made to get vehicles for the other districts. Mr. Oppong advised the beneficiary districts to maintain the vehicles to prolong their life span.
