Court grants mother and daughter bail

Ejisu (Ash), Jan. 12, GNA – A magistrate’s court at Ejisu on Tuesday granted Madam Akosua Akologo, a farmer at Besease and her daughter Azuma Atanga, five million cedis bail each for assaulting a pregnant woman and causing harm.

They pleaded guilty and will re-appear on January 17.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Nkansah Twumasi Ankrah told the court presided over by Mr Noble Nkrumah that one Asibi Awunina was the girlfriend of Madam Akologo’s husband.

He said on November 3 last year, at about 21 hours, Asibi the complainant went to a wake-keeping at Besease near Ejisu and when Madam Akologo saw her, she attacked her (Asibi) and called her daughter Azuma to assist her and together they assaulted her mercilessly.

Inspector Twumasi Ankrah said Asibi started bleeding profusely and had to be rushed to the Ejisu Government Hospital where she was later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

He said a report was made to the Ejisu police who arrested the accused persons and charged them with the offence. 12 Jan. 05
