Kwabre District Assembly honours revenue collectors

Mamponteng (Ash), Jan. 11, GNA – The Kwabre District Assembly has honoured 11 of its local revenue collectors for exceeding their annual revenue targets at their stations.

Mr John Manu, a commissioned revenue collector at Kodie was adjudged the best station collector and received a chargeable flashlight costing 230,000 cedis as his prize.

Mr Isaac Ababio, also a commissioned collector at Kodie came second and had a flashlight costing 200,000 cedis and Mr Vasco J. Kankam, another commissioned revenue collector at Mamponteng took the third place and took away a flashlight valued at 180,000 cedis. The others who had cash of 100,000 cedis each were Mr R.Y. Boakye, a commissioned collector at Krobo, Mr T.K. Boateng, also a commissioned collector at Ahwiaa and Miss Rebecca Afriyie, commissioned collector at Ahwiaa.

The rest were Miss Mercy Prempeh, a permanent revenue staff at Ahwiaa and Emelia A. Mensah, also a permanent staff at Mamponteng, Mr Amoa Kodua, a commissioned collector at Ntonso, Mr Maxwell Acheampong, commissioned collector at Krobo and Mr Owusu Agyemang, commissioned collector at Ankaase.

Addressing the collectors at Mamponteng, Mr Solomon A. Larbi, Kwabre District Finance Director and Mr James Amponsah, Chief Revenue Superintendent of the District said the token prizes were to motivate the workers to improve on their performance.

Mr Larbi was full of praise for all the workers for their efforts to help the Assembly to meet its revenue targets and urged them not to relent but to continue to excel in their endeavours. He urged assembly members to support the revenue collectors to enable them to raise enough revenue to enhance development. He announced that the assembly exceeded its 2004 revenue target by 15 percent and expressed the hope that it would increase this year.
