Entrepreneurs asked to respect workers’ right

Accra, Jan. 11, GNA – Mr Rexford K. Asubonteng, Bibiani District Labour Officer, has appealed to entrepreneurs to ensure peaceful industrial atmosphere this year, as their contribution towards national economic growth.

This, he said, could be achieved if they are conversant with the labour laws and apply them to promote good management-worker relations. Mr Asubonteng was speaking during the inauguration of the local union of the Construction, Material and Building Materials Workers Union (CMBWU) of the Trades Union Congress, at the Bibiani office of the P. W. Ghana Limited, a road construction firm in the Western Region. Mr Pius Quainoo, General Secretary of the CMBWU, observed that a number of industrial establishments in Ghana have been turned into slave trade centres where workers are abused on daily basis by their employers.

He these employers prevent their workers to associate themselves with the trade unions for fear of being exposed. 11 Jan. 05
