Sekondi, Jan. 10 – GNA – The Very Reverend Doctor Jacob Welbourne, Dean of the Anglican Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew the Apostle has congratulated the election of Mr. Ebenezer Begyina Sekyi- Hughes as the new Speaker of Parliament.
He said the election of Mr. Sekyi-Hughes has brought a great deal of joy to the Anglican Diocese of Sekondi and the Beach Road Church of the Ascension in Takoradi where he is the Acting Warden. These were contained in a congratulatory message signed by Rev. Welbourne on Monday.
“The church in the entire diocese are solidly behind you and we wish you well in your new role and environment”.
The message called on Mr. Sekyi-Hughes to serve as a bridge between the various groups in Parliament and be fair, truthful and impartial to all of them.
“Mr. Sekyi-Hughes being a senior member of the church is expected to perform creditable and ensure that laws that are passed for the country by Parliament would be in the national interest”.
