Christians asked to help transform nation

Bunso (E/R), Jan 09, GNA – Rev Joseph Kwabena Antwi, the Chairman of the Great Commission Church International, Ghana, on Sunday appealed to Christians to let their lives be transformed by the Gospel to affect the transformation of the country.

He said the positive transformation of the country could only be achieved if Christians let the teachings of Jesus permeate. Rev. Antwi was preaching at the close of a four-day General Council Meeting of the Church at Bunso in the East Akim District on Sunday. The four-day meeting was attended by over a 100 participants made up of pastors and elders of the church in the country and delegates from Togo and Benin branches.

Rev. Antwi said the country was endowed with abundant natural and human resources for the comfort of the citizens if well managed. ”But this can only be achieved if our discipleship can be manifested through all aspects of our lives.”

“As Christians if we are have not yet transformed ourselves, we should remember that it will not be well with the country since our individual activities influence the direction and state of the nation.” He spoke about corruption, tribalism and environmental pollution and called on Churches to instil in their congregations a sense of responsibility for one another and the country or “be prepared to bear the bitter consequences in future.”

“We need to encourage our faithful to recognize the need for the Gospel to have a deeper effect in their spiritual life and be productive to help develop the country so that other countries can also come and seek loans from us”, Rev. Antwi said.
