Intensify education on hand washing programme -Teachers told

New Edubiase (Ash), Jan 9, GNA – Teachers have been urged to intensify the programme to promote hand washing with soap in schools. Mr Stephen Ofosuhene, Desk Officer of the Community Water and Sanitation Project for the Adansi South District, said the programme was very important to help prevent some common sicknesses that school children often suffer from playing in dust with their hands.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at New Edubiase, he said children learn and listen to their teachers more than their parents.

He said children would therefore cultivate the habit if their teachers educated them on the importance hand washing with soap to help the country to save money, which would have been used for drugs to treat them.

Mr Ofosuhene said worms were found in children because they played a lot in dust and do not wash their hands properly with soap before eating.
