Winneba, Jan 08, GNA – Mr Sekyi Hagan, a tutor at the Winneba Secondary School, has appealed to Ghanaians to respect and to support to pupil teachers in view of the good work they were doing in the rural areas where trained teacher sometimes refused to accept transfers. Speaking at a one-day Pupil teacher Conference organized by the Saint Paul’s Methodist Preparatory School at Winneba, he said ”we should commend pupil teachers for the wonderful job they are doing in the rural areas. We should not look down on them.”
Mr Hagan said pupil teachers handle pupils in most private preparatory schools and they get better grades at the BECE as compared to pupils public schools who are handled by trained teachers. ”It is about time Ghanaians change their attitudes and perceptions about pupil teachers.”
