Driver’s mate remanded for stealing rice

Tema, Jan 08, GNA — A driver’s mate who was found with two bags of rice at the Tema Harbour and could not explain how he came by it has been remanded into custody by the Tema circuit court ‘B’.

Kwaku Yeboah pleaded not guilty and will reappear on January 14, 2005. Chief Inspector Teye Matey told the court that on December 20, 2004, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) security met the accused standing by two bags of rice at the port.

When questioned as to how he came by the rice he could not offer any explanation so he was handed over to the police.
