Youth advised to desist from negative practices

Kasoa (C/R), Jan. 6, GNA – The Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Youth Co-ordinator of the National Youth Council, Mr. Emmanuel Sodja Martey on Wednesday advised the youth to desist from negative practices that threaten their lives.

He said the consumption of hard drugs and engaging in unsafe abortion, teenage pregnancy and other social vices often landed the youth in very unpleasant situations.

Addressing the first anniversary celebration of the Gloria Pointer Teen Movement, a youth movement at Kasoa, Mr. Martey, urged the youth to rather employ avenues that would enhance their chances of success in life.

He urged parents to be up and doing and provide the basic need of their children and mentioned some of the needs as shelter and clothing, health and education.

“The absence of these basic needs force the youth to engage in all vices in their effort to acquire them by themselves”, he said. He advised parents to ensure that the sizes of their families were manageable and also avoid spending much on expensive funerals and other frivolities.

The district co-ordinator reminded the youth to be mindful of their sexual habit to avoid contracting the HIV/AIDS since they were the bedrock of the development of the nation. 6 Jan. 05
