Tema General Hospital records 97 deliveries during X’mas

Tema, Jan. 05, GNA – Tema General Hospital recorded a total of 97 deliveries during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Ten babies, made up of seven males and three females were delivered on Christmas day, December 25, while 11 males and six females were born on New Year Day, January 1.

Four out of the 70 babies born between 26th and 31st of December 2004 were through caesarean section.

Mrs Evelyn Takyi-Mensah, Principal Nursing Officer in charge of the Maternity Unit of the Hospital who made this known to the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Wednesday said all the mothers settled their medical bills without any difficulty.

She advised expectant mothers against the use of herbal concoctions warning that it was injurious to their health. Mrs Takyi-Mensah said the practice could lead etopic and even death.
