Accra, Dec 30, GNA – The Police Administration on Thursday reminded the public that the law against the use and possession of explosives was still in force and that it would not countenance any act of disobedience or disregard for it.
A statement issued in Accra said in November the Police sent a warning to the public against the use and possession of explosive as stipulated by Executive Instrument (EI) 21 but had been flouted with impunity.
Some of the explosive which the statement said were on display in the markets, streets and at vantage point for sale included fire crackers often called knock out; display shells; artillery shells and ball and canister shells.
It said the Inspector General of Police had directed all Regional Commanders of Police to ensure the strict compliance with the law and deal with offenders.
