Tema, Dec. 27, GNA – A 28-year-old woman, who was remanded into custody by the Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ for defrauding, had to be granted bail, when the court was informed that her four-year-child had been admitted at a hospital.
Cassandra Amoah, who had been granted bail in a similar 24 million cedis fraud case on rent at the same court pleaded not guilty and will reappear on January 6, 2005.
Mr Stephen Teye, presiding judge warned that accused persons, who appear before his court and granted bail that, he would refuse them bail if they go to commit the same offence.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Ben Agbedanu told the court that on December 15, 2004, the complainant, who needed accommodation, got in touch with the accused through a witness, who indicated that, she was ready to vacate her room if he paid her four million cedis. He said the accused sent the complainant to her room, and started packing her things aside, which convinced him and therefore, paid the amount to her.
Inspector Agbedanu said when the accused received the money, she did not leave the room and refused to pay his money back and a report was made to the Ashaiman police, who arrested her.
