Accra, Dec 27, GNA – Thousands of holidaymakers from all parts of Accra on Monday thronged the country’s premiere beach, La Pleasure Beach to enjoy the Christmas holiday in style.
Even though the attendance at the beach was huge many still believe that January 1 2005, would witness more people because that would mark the beginning of a new year.
The La beach, as usual was filled with young men and women dressed in their beach wear, enjoying themselves with music being provided live. Besides, the other drinking spots at the beach were also filled with revellers who were equally enjoying themselves.
Apart from few people buying khebabs and others patronising drinking spots, most of the revellers could be seen carrying their own food and drinks to the place.
There was plenty to eat and drink as families and loved ones sat to enjoy their meals in an atmosphere of merry-making.
The police were also there to ensure law and order as well as lifeguards provided by the management of the beach to save individuals who might be swept away by the sea. Some holidaymakers spent the day on horse riding, while others played football and volley along the beach.
No incident of drowning has been recorded at the time GNA visited the place.
