Ahanta West District Assembly presents exercise books to GES

Agona-Nkwanta (W/R) Dec.22, GNA- The Ahanta West District Assembly, on Wednesday presented 14,000 exercise books to the Ghana Education Service for distribution to basic schools in the District free of charge. Mr Andrew Kwesi Biney, District Chief Executive, who presented the books to Ms Rosemond Blay, District Director of Education, at Agona-Nkwanta, said the District Assembly was determined to raise the level of education and ensure high school enrolment.

He said the Assembly sunk about 80 per cent of its capital investment into infrastructural development with the main focus on education. Mr Biney asked parents and teachers to play their role in raising the standard of education in the District, explaining that the provision of educational infrastructure alone was not enough to boost teaching and learning.

He said the Assembly had instituted an annual mock examination for final year junior secondary school pupils to improve the district’s performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination.
