Chief calls for repair of bridge over River Amanzule

Esiama (W/R), Dec. 17, GNA – Awulae Annor Adjaye 111, Omanhene of the Western Nzema Traditional Area, has made an appeal to the Government through the Western Regional Minister, Mr. Joseph Aidoo to repair the Bailey bridge that spans River Amanzule.

The bridge, which links Alabokazo and Tikobo Number One collapsed about a week ago and two tipper trucks which crashed on the bridge are currently sub-merged in the river, he disclosed.

Awulae Adjaye said the collapse of the bridge had affected movement of goods and services and also difficult for the sick to reach the Eikwe Hospital.

He said people travelling to Eikwe now made long detours through Beyin, using an old and weak bailey bridge that spans River Elloinye, which could also collapse due to the heavy traffic now plying that road. He warned of imminent disaster if nothing was done about the situation.
