MP-Elect disagrees that only Muslims voted for him

Kumasi, Dec. 16, GNA- Dr. Adamu Gibiril, Member of Parliament (MP)-Elect for the Asawasi constituency in Ashanti has dismissed claims in certain quarters that his area is dominated by Muslims.

He said contrary to speculations, Asawasi is a community inhabited by Mulims, Christians and non-believers.

Dr. Gibiril said this when he addressed the Asawasi National Democratic Congress (NDC) Executive meeting in Kumasi, on Wednesday. The MP-Elect commended the constituents for the confidence reposed in him by electing him as their MP and pledged to work relentlessly to bring positive developments in the area.

Dr. Gibiril made it clear that his victory was as a result of combined efforts of Muslims and Christians alike, and the conviction of the electorate that he was the right choice.

He announced that his top priority was would be to strive to establish in-come generating activities in the constituency. The MP-Elect said he hoped to achieve this by liasing with the appropriate Government Agencies and lobbying Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) technical assistance.

Dr. Gibiril called for sustenance of the co-operation and support that the electorate offered him during the elections, since such co-operation was crucial for the implementation and development of the area.
