Carpenter jailed for stealing goat and fowls

Aflao, Dec; 16, GNA – Emmanuel Gati, 27, a Carpenter at Abor near Akatsi, in the Volta Region, was on Wednesday sentenced to four years in prison by the Aflao Circuit Court for stealing a goat and four fowls. Gati, who was slapped with a six-year prison sentence from the same Court a fortnight ago, for stealing 11 rabbits belonging to a mortuary attendant, pleaded guilty to the latest offence.

The Court, however, acquitted Gati on another charge of stealing a bicycle, due to lack of evidence.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Prosper Ledi, told the Court that the Gati admitted stealing the animals when the complainant, Seth Nutor spotted him in Court and challenged him over the missing animals.
