KNUST primary gets new school block

Kumasi, Dec. 14, GNA- A new school block, constructed with funds from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for the university primary school at a cost of 1.2 billion cedis, has been commissioned.

The two-storey block is made up of 12-unit classrooms. Commissioning the project in Kumasi on Tuesday, Professor Kwesi Andam, Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, said the university Authority took the decision to expand the number of classrooms because the existing structures could not adequately cope with the increasing number of pupils.

Professor Andam made it clear that provision of education for children of the university workers, is of prime importance, and that the university would continue to ensure that the children have the best education.

Mr Charles Ayim-Ampofo, Headmaster of the KNUST primary school, commended the Vice-Chancellor, the university management and the Board of Governors and Parent-Teacher-Association (PTA) for their relentless support for the project.

He gave the assurance that all possible avenues would be explored to ensure that the new school block was well maintained. Reverend Dr. Effah Ababio, Protestant Chaplain of KNUST, dedicated the new school block.
