Court fines taxi driver for careless driving

Sekondi Dec.14, GNA-A Sekondi District Magistrate’s Court on Monday imposed a fine of 700,000 cedis, on one Emmanuel Annan, a taxi driver, for careless driving, negligently causing harm and driving without valid documents.

Annan will serve six months imprisonment in hard labour in default. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Joe Hedidor said at about 1000 hours on August 22, 2004, the accused negotiated a curve on the Aboadze-Inchaban road without due care and attention and ran into a commercial bus.

Chief Inspector Hedidor said some passengers in the bus sustained injuries and were rushed to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital for treatment.
