Court jails driver for threatening to kill mother

Accra, Dec. 14, GNA- A driver who threatened to kill his mother was on Tuesday sentenced to five years in prison with hard labour by a Circuit Court in Accra.

Kwabena Antwi Bosiako pleaded guilty to threatening to stab his mother, Madam Cecilia Owusu, 50, with a kitchen knife.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Taiwah Boison told the court that in November this year, the accused threatened to stab her mother at Tabora Lapaz in Accra after a misunderstanding between them over the accused person’s persistent beating of children in the house in which they lived.

The accused became offended when his mother tried to stop him from beating the children. The accused therefore took a kitchen knife and threatened to stab her to death.

Chief Inspector Boison said the screams of the complainant drew the attention of people to the scene and the woman was taken away for safety.

Police investigations showed that about two years ago, Bosiako stabbed his mother on her left arm after a slight misunderstanding.
