Grand Coalition Candidate sure of victory

Accra, Dec. 7, GNA- Dr. Edward Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the Grand Coalition, said on Tuesday that he was sure to win when the ballots were counted after the polls.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote at the Oko Presbyterian Polling Station in the Domi Kwabenya Constituency, Dr. Mahama said it was his turn to help free the country from the economic woes into which it had been sunk.

“I am confident Ghanaians will give me the mandate to lead them into prosperity,” he said.

Dr. Mahama said he believed in the Electoral Commission (EC) to perform creditably in declariing a worthy winner to Ghanaians. He said Ghanaians are looking for genuine reconciliation, which the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had failed to deliver.

On the question of the polls going into a run-off, Dr. Mahama said the Grand Coalition would negotiate looking at the manifesto of the other parties.

He said the large turnout means that Ghanaians have embraced the culture of democracy.

Dr. Mahama said he would accept defeat graciously, “if there is no democratic coup d’etat.”

Mr. John Nuwenyah, Presiding Officer at the polling station complained about the absence of security personnel at the station. There are 1,996 eligible voters at the polling station out of which 264 voted as at 0930 hours.
