Police debunks alleged shooting incident at Dzodze

Dzodze, Dec; 07, GNA – Dzodze District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Augustine Toryiya has denied media reports that an activist of the National Democratic Congress had shot and killed a supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

DSP Toryiya told the Ghana News Agency that the reports were frivolous rumours being carried by people with the desire to heighten tension in the area to mar the just ended Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

“Our investigations found out that there were no such attacks on anybody at Deme and other places as being speculated.”

DSP Tortyiya said the only case on record was an attack on an unidentified supporter of the NPP by an unknown assailant with a sharp object.

He said no arrests have been made.
