Tamale Youth calls for violent free election in Dagbon

Tamale, Dec. 5, GNA – Mr Albert Atutiga, Vice chairman of the Tamale Youth Association on Saturday said the success of the December elections in Dagbon without setbacks depended on the actions of the youth and called on them to exercise restraint to ensure peace.

Mr. Atutiga, accompanied by other leaders of the Association, including Dr Baba Sampana, a patron, Mr. Abukari Tahiru, Organiser, Mr Ali Umar, Assistant Secretary and Mr George Naduku also a patron were at the GNA Regional Offices in Tamale to express their concern on the upcoming election.

Mr Atutiga said it was sad that the youth had involved themselves so much in politics that they no longer think about their future adding that after the elections, parties would go on recess, but the youth would still meet to discuss their socio-economic welfare.

He has, therefore, called on the youth of Dagbon to play meaningful roles so as not to disturb the peace currently enjoyed in the region saying, that if the state of emergency were to be re-imposed it is the youth that would suffer most since they could not engage in their socio-economic activities”.

Mr Baba Sampana, advised the youth to adhere to the electoral rules of leaving the scene after voting and returning after 1700 hrs for the counting and declaration of results.

He said politicians would come and go but the youth and Tamale would always be there and that they should see each other as one people with common destiny and stay way from acts that would bring about violence during and after the December 7 elections.
