Tamale South parliamentary candidate takes campaign to schools

Tamale, Dec. 3,GNA – Mr Iddrisu Harruna, National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Thursday called on Ghanaians to vote out the ruling New Patriotic Party in protest against the Government’s mismanagement of the economy.

“Renewing the mandate of the Kufuor Government for another four-year term will further worsen the hardships that the country is currently going through.”

Mr Harruna who is also the NDC parliamentary candidate for Tamale South Constituency, was addressing students of some educational institutions in the Tamale Metropolis to canvass for votes for the Party and to wrest the seat from the incumbent Member of Parliament, Alhaji Mustapha Ali Iddris, who is also the Minister of Works and Housing.

Mr Harruna said the NPP had made life unbearable for Ghanaians by increasing the prices of fuel, and water and electricity tariffs. He warned the students that a vote for the NPP would spell their doom since their parents would not be able to pay for the high cost of tertiary education.

“For instance, as at the time I left the university, I paid only 700,000 cedis but now the fees at the law school is 15 million cedis.” Mr Harruna accused the NPP of misapplying state resources to mount a very expensive electioneering campaign. He said a government of the NDC would include second cycle schools in the administration of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETfund).
