New military instructors graduate

Accra, Dec. 2, GNA- Thirty-Three Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCO’s) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Thursday passed out of the Drill and Duties School of the GAF after a 12-week course in Drill and Duties.

By the graduation, the soldiers become instructors in drill and duties, and are to be prepared to take up appointments as Unit Regimental Sergeant Majors.

The course, the 57th, is run for soldiers from the ranks of Sergeant to Warrant Officer, and aims at equipping selected personnel of the GAF with an up to date knowledge in drill and drill instruction. It also updates them in Unit Administration and broadening their outlook in matters of general knowledge and the norms of the profession. Commander Mohammed Muniru Tahiru, The Director General, Training of the GAF who reviewed the graduation parade told the soldiers that there was a greater need for the officers to perfect their professionalism because of their increased involvement in peacekeeping and internal security operations.

He said the hierarchy of the GAF has depended on SNCO’ as an indispensable link between the officer corps and the junior ranks. Cdr. Tahiru told them that the GAF had maintained a rich and an enviable standard of drill that had won admiration not only in Ghana but also on the international scene.

He exhorted them to uphold the requirements of the course, live up to expectation for the GAF to continue to play its part in an effort to resolve conflicts and maintain peace in the West African sub-region. Students who excelled in the course were rewarded with Sergeant Bismark Diawuo receiving the award for the overall best student, while Sergeant Arnold Amagatse received the award for the most outstanding student in drills.

Sergeant Clifford Owusu-Ansah was awarded the best student in administration.
