Sunyani NDC raises issues with the Electoral Commission

Sunyani (B/A), Dec. 1, GNA – The Brong-Ahafo Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed dismay and grave concern about the Electoral Commission’s intention not to erect a scoreboard for this year’s election results.

The Secretariat has also criticized the Commission’s decision not to allow representatives of various political parties into its Strong Room as it did in the 2000 Elections.

A press statement issued by the NDC Secretariat in Sunyani and signed by Mr Charles Diawuo, Regional Secretary, expressed shock about this departure from the EC’s normal way of doing things saying that it was beginning to suspect “a foul play” as a result of these decisions. “We believe that if the Electoral Commission has nothing to hide, then the it should replicate what happened in the 2000 Elections. This will ensure that all players in the electoral game will accept the outcome of the elections”, the statement said.

Meanwhile, when Ghana News Agency contacted the Regional Director of EC on the issue, he said the Commission had not taken any decision as being claimed by the NDC.
