PNC Holds Regional Rally in Bolgatanga

Bolgatanga, Dec. 1, GNA – Several hundreds of supporters and sympathisers of the People’s National Convention (PNC) in Bolgatanga Central thronged the St. John’s Park on Tuesday to catch a glimpse of the Party’s Parliamentary Candidate and incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Mr David Apasera, who has been absent from the Region for a greater part of this year, following a serious car accident he had in Accra in which he suffered compound fractures in both legs.

Supporting himself on two clutches, Mr Apasera, who was recently discharged from the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Koforidua, arrived at the rally grounds amidst cheers and songs from his supporters.

Addressing the crowd, the MP said although the three Northern Regions were known poverty stricken areas, past governments had shown very little commitment towards an improvement of the situation. He said when voted into power, a Government of the Grand Coalition led by Dr Edward Mahama would turn the fortunes of the North round, using the area’s vast natural and human resources.

Mr Apasera dismissed claims by political opponents that he was permanently crippled and incapable of walking unaided, and wondered how some people could go to the extent of wishing others evil for the sake of politics.

He urged supporters of the Grand Coalition to turn out punctually at their polling centres on December 7, and to maintain a high level of vigilance to prevent vote rigging on the part of any political party. In attendance were Regional and Constituency Executives of the PNC; Every Ghanaian Living Everywhere and Great Consolidated People’s Party, the parties that constitute the Grand Coalition.
