Driver fined 500,000 cedis for causing harm

Accra Nov. 30, GNA – An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday imposed a fine of 500,000 cedis on a Driver for driving carelessly and negligently causing harm.

The accused, Alexander Fosu Abrefa pleaded guilty to the charge. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Bernard Darfuor told the Court that on October 25 Abrefa was driving a private Opel Record car from Korle-Bu to Laterbiokoshie.

On reaching a junction, which linked the Laterbiokoshie road, he failed to observe the clearance of the road and crossed another person driving a 207 Benz bus coming from Laterbiokoshie towards Zoti. The accused crashed with the Benz bus, which ran into the middle of the road causing damage to both vehicles.

One passenger on board the 207 Benz bus sustained injuries and was rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where he was treated.
