Don’t go Independent- NPP Parliamentarian advises colleagues

Accra, Nov 27, GNA- Mr Isaac George Amoo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso Central on Friday advised his colleagues who lost in the party’s primaries to reconsider their decision to stand as independent candidates.

Mr Amoo, who lost the primaries to Mrs Opare Osei said his colleagues who had decided to go independent would be doing a great disservice to the party if they did not rescind their decision. He was addressing a rally organised by members of the party at the Tip Toe Lane at Ayawaso in Accra.

Mr Amoo suggested to his colleagues, numbering about 26, to officially inform the Electoral Commission (EC) of their intention to step down so that their supporters could vote for the NPP on December seven.

“In the supreme interest of the NPP, please come back home, for whatever problems there are, we shall solve them amicably to ensure victory for the party in the forthcoming elections”, he said. Mr Amoo urged all Ghanaians to return the NPP to power to continue with its good works.

Mr Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and the Modernisation of the Capital City, reminded Ghanaians that the December seven polls would guarantee their “brighter future”.

He commended President J A Kufuor for keeping faith with the people by delivering on his promises in the supreme interest of Ghanaians. Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey asked the electorate to vote massively for the NPP to enable it to continue with good governance under the party’s manifesto of “Positive Change Chapter Two.”

Sheikh Ibrahim Quaye, Greater-Accra Regional Minister, who addressed the rally, said under the NPP, God had liberated the people of this country from the bitter experiences under the previous government. He therefore, urged the electorate to give the party another mandate to rule the country.
