Tema, Nov.23, GNA — A 41 year old seaman who put an imbecile in the family way after having sex with her three times in January, this year, but went into hiding, has been remanded by the Tema Circuit Court “B”.
Benjamin Harry Hyde pleaded not guilty to charges of having carnal knowledge of an imbecile aged 24. Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that in January this year, the Hyde invited the victim to his room at Sakomono where they all lived and had sex with her three times.
She said when he realised that the woman had become pregnant following their bouts of sex the accused vanished from the area, until the victim gave birth to a bouncing baby boy last month. After delivering the baby Hyde appeared in the victim’s house apparently to see the baby, the prosecution said.
Chief Inspector Nutakor said the victim told the mother that it was the accused that made her pregnant and the parents reported the case to the Sakomono police who arrested him.
