NDC’s Mumuni tours Volta Region

Juapong (V/R), Nov. 23 GNA – Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Presidential Candidate arrived to a rousing welcome at Juapong on Tuesday as part of his tour of some constituencies in the Volta Region.

Within minutes of his arrival, NDC fans, including a heavy presence of the Moslem community poured into the market square where a mini-durbar was held.

Mr Modestus Ahiable, Regional Chairman of the Party, impressed on the citizenry that though crucial, the December 7, elections “must be fought with the thumbs rather than with guns and sticks”. He said Ghanaians would find themselves at the crossroads on December 7.

“Are we going to vote the same way that brought unto us the hardship we suffer today?” he asked.

He criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government for its inability to check corrupt practices among its ranks. He alleged that the Volta Regional Offices of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) had been plagued with financial malpractices, which the Government had done nothing about.

Ahaji Mumuni thanked the supporters for their sympathy and concern during his recent accident and hospitalisation. At Tsito, hordes of NDC supporters took over the Ho-Accra trunk road as they led Alhaji Mumuni to the durbar grounds.

Mr Francis Agbotse, Member of Parliament for Ho West, maintained that NDC’s foundations in Tsito remained unshaken. He denied allegations that he had lobbied the authorities to divert a school bus meant for Awudome Secondary School in Tsito to Kpedze Secondary School, which is located in his hometown.

The Parliamentary race in the Ho West Constituency is considered to be a clash of the titans – Mr Agbotse and Miss Elizabeth Ohene, Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education – a third contestant is on the ticket of Every Ghanaian Living Everywhere (EGLE) Party.
