Court imposes fine on alleged armed robber

Obuasi, Nov 22, GNA- The Obuasi Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Justice E.A. Asante, has imposed a fine of three million cedis on a 24 year-old man for threatening to kill one Bernice Sarfoah. Yakubu Wangara, who pleaded not guilty to threat of harm, would be jailed for 18 months in default.

Chief Inspector M.Y. Agumah told the Court that the accused was arrested with four other persons in an armed robbery case last October, leading to a newspaper story on the incident.

Wangara went to the shop of the complainant with an accomplice on November 12, 2003 and threatened her, when he noticed that photocopies of the story were being produced in her shop, leading to his arrest. 22 Nov. 04
