Obuasi Court jails two people for stealing

Obuasi, Nov.18, GNA- The Obuasi Circuit Court, has imposed a total jail term of nine years on two people for assault and stealing. Maxwell Mensah alias “Saddam” 20, was sentenced to four years imprisonment, while Kwabena Owusu alias “Akyenku 22, was gaoled for five years.

The two were arraigned for assaulting one Collins Mensah, a technician and robbing him of his video deck and shoes.

The presiding Judge Mr E.A. Asante noted that the involvement of the youth in criminal activities was becoming rampant, and expressed the hope that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others.

Police Chief Inspector M.Y. Agumah told the court that between 1930 and 2030 hours on 23 October, this year, the complainant was returning from Onyinase with the items when the two accused persons and an accomplice, now at large, attacked him.
