Amansie East Assembly elects Presiding Member

Bekwai (Ash), Nov. 16, GNA – The Amansie East District Assembly last Friday elected Nana Minta Afari Owusu-Korkor as its Presiding Member for a two-year term.

Nana Owusu-Korkor, Headmaster of Jachie Pramso Secondary School, was elected after a third round of voting.

In the first two rounds, he and two other contestants – Mr Joe Bio of the Ashanti Regional Ghana Education Office and Mr Samuel Albert Badu, a Farmer, did not obtain the required two-thirds majority. Mr Bio and Mr Badu later stepped down to pave the way for Nana Owusu-Korkor, who got 42 out of the 55 ballots cast. In his acceptance speech, he called for cooperation to enable him to carry out his functions.
