President Kufuor visits Breman Asikuma

Breman Asikuma (C/R), Nov. 11, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor has said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is ruling with the party’s constitution and bye-laws and that any party official, who does not respect the decision of the disciplinary committee shall be sanctioned.

This was in response to an appeal made to the President by the Omanhene of Breman Traditional Area, Nana Amoakwa Buadu VII, on the occasion of the first visit of the President and his entourage at a durbar of chiefs and people of Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District at Breman Asikuma on Wednesday, to salvage the differences between the District Chief Executive, Mr. Sampson K. Anfoko and the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr. Paul Collins Appiah Ofori.

The Omanhene stated, among other things in his welcome address, that the cat and mouse relationship between the two top leaders is a contributing factor to the inadequate attention to projects and other development needs of the district.

The Omanhene therefore, appealed to the President to use his good offices to patch up the differences to enable peace to prevail in the district.

In furtherance to Omanhene’s appeal, the President said that the Asikuma town roads, the Odoben-Brakwa road and Anyinabirim-Asikuma road have been awarded on contract while the Amanfopon-Asikuma road including the Ochisoa bridge was receiving attention.

The President later introduced Mr. P.C. Appiah Ofori as the NPP parliamentary candidate for the December 2004 elections and urged the crowd to vote NPP to power for the next four years.
