Roundtable conference held for women in politics

Sunyani (B/A), Nov. 11, GNA- Ms. Margaret Brew-Ward, Programme Officer of Gender Centre, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has emphasized the need for Ghanaians to examine messages of politicians before deciding who to vote for.

This she said would restrain politicians from giving promises, which they could not fulfil.

Ms. Brew-Ward was speaking at round-table-discussions together with women who are involved in active politics in the Brong-Ahafo Region at Sunyani on Thursday.

The meeting, which was organized by IBIS, a Danish NGO in Accra, in collaboration with Gender Centre, aimed at encouraging women to enter into active politics.

Ms. Brew-Ward noted that many politicians during campaign period made vague promises, which could not be delivered. She therefore reminded women to be wary of such politicians. Mr Alfred Kumah, programme facilitator of IBIS said his organisation was prepared and determined to help women who go into active politics.

He advised politicians to desist from attacking personalities.
