MOFA to arrest palm oil adulterators

Ataase-Nkwanta (Ash), Nov.8, GNA – The Ministry of Food and Agriculture will collaborate with health related organisations in the Adansi South District to arrest unscrupulous people who adulterate palm oil with dye.

This is aimed at preventing such people from undermining efforts by the government to ensue that the country’s palm oil is purchased at the international market.

Mr Geoffrey Epoffeame, Adansi South District Director of Agriculture, who announced these, expressed worry that the adulteration of the product was affecting the food processing industry. The Director of Agriculture who was speaking at the district’s celebration of the National Farmers’ Day at Ataase-Nkwanta last Friday, also criticised farmers who used water from gutters to water vegetables. Mr Dominic Yeboah, the Adansi South District Chief Executive, noted that though there was vast arable land, the youth continued to migrate to the urban areas for non-existent jobs and urged them to go into agriculture to increase food production.

In all 16 farmers were honoured with Madam Grace Tetteh from Adansi-Boko emerging as the overall district best farmer. She received a spraying machine, five cutlasses, Wellington boots, a radio cassette player and a full piece of cloth as her prize.
