Court reminds farmer for possessing Indian hemp

Offinso, (Ash), Nov. 7, GNA – The Offinso circuit court, has reminded a 54-year old farmer, Ahmed Kofi Yeboah of Ampabame near Kodie in the Kwabre District in prison custody for possessing seven bags of leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp.

The accused, whose plea was not taken, would re-appear before the court on November 9.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Alhassan Shaibu, Offinso District Police commander, told the court, presided over by Justice A.A. Abangah that following a tip-off, a team of policemen from Kodie, led by Chief Superintendent Anthony Asaah went to Ampabame on October 17.

He said the police went to the suspect’s house and conducted a search, during which they found seven bags of leaves suspected to be Indian hemp in one of his rooms and he was therefore, arrested and charged with the offence.
