Two jailed for stealing

Tarkwa (W/R), Nov. 5, GNA – Kwasi Ayitey, alias Article, 21 and Ekow Ocran, 23, both unemployed, were jailed eight years each for burglary and stealing various sums of money.

They pleaded guilty and the Court, presided over by Mr John Aject Nasam, accordingly sentenced them.

Prosecuting, Inspector Alex Asamoah of the Tarkwa Police, said on October 18, 2004, the two persons cut a barbed wire fence and broke into a house at about 1300 hours when the resident, Mr Henry Melvin Jooste, an employee of Gold Fields Ghana Limited, had gone out.

He said the two stole 2.5 million cedis and 800 South African Rand, as well as, other valuables including a Television set, laptop computer, DS-TV decoder, a mobile phone and some electrical gadgets.
