Obuasi, Nov 4, GNA- Two students who were caught for impersonation at the centre for this year’s private candidates Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) have been banned from writing any West African Examination Council (WAEC) examination for three years by the Obuasi circuit court.
The students, Alhassan Iddrisu, 20, and Arthur Fredrick, 22, were also fined 500,000 cedis each and in default they would go to prison for six months.
They pleaded guilty.
Police Chief Inspector Mohammed Y. Agumah told the court that the students were among the private candidates who were writing their SSSCE at the centre at Akrokerri Training College.
On October 20, 2004, during the afternoon session when the candidates including the accused were writing the elective Mathematics paper two, their invigilator detected that both Alhassan and Arthur were using the same index number 752502163 bearing the same name.
The invigilator became suspicious since by their action, it suggested that one of them was writing the paper for the other. Chief Inspector Agumah said the students were accordingly arrested during which it was found out that Alhassan who claimed to be better in mathematics was writing the paper for Arthur.
