Kumasi, Nov 3, GNA- Thirty security guards of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) on Tuesday passed out from the Police Training School in Kumasi after a six-week training.
They were taken through discipline, physical training and foot drill, human rights, security duties and KMA byelaws.
Addressing the passing-out parade, Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, said with the decentralisation programme, the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies had to enforce their byelaws.
He said the byelaws were not being enforced and attributed this to lack of education and negative behaviour of some people. Mr Jumah therefore asked the new guards to enforce the byelaws. He stressed the need for them to be good ambassadors of the KMA and asked the public not to look down on the guards as their enemies but rather as partners in the development of the metropolis.
Mr V.O. Abrokwa, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in-charge of the Training School, stressed the need for the training to improve their output.
He expressed the hope that the training would enhance their performance.
