Offinso North NDC against mass transfer of votes in the Constituency

Akomadan (Ash.) Nov. 2, GNA – The Offinso North Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cautioned the Electoral Commission (EC) not to bow to any influence to initiate the mass transfer of votes from the Constituency.

A press statement issued by Mr K. Adusei, the NDC Constituency Secretary at Akomadan on Monday, asked the EC to abide by the decision to transfer only votes of eligible voters, who had lived in their constituencies for at least two months.

The statement said although the Party recognised that vote transfer was important to prevent qualified voters from being disenfranchised, it should not be used as a political tool to the advantage of any candidate in Election 2004.

“We, therefore, call on the EC to put a limit on the number of votes that can be transferred to a particular Constituency.”
