The coalition said its members first demonstrated in March 2026 before suspending the protest after government officials promised to help secure their recruitment.

When those assurances did not result in appointments, the graduates held a second protest and petitioned the presidency in August. They submitted a list of qualified graduates and were told by officials that it had been forwarded to President John Dramani Mahama.

“Every single pledge made to this coalition over the past eight months has proven to be totally futile,” Agyare said.

“We will no longer tolerate being used for photo opportunities or pacified by meaningless political rhetoric while qualified citizens with disabilities languish in enforced poverty and unemployment.”

The graduates said they had completed their studies despite inaccessible university facilities, including lecture halls that were difficult to reach and staircases without ramps.
