Man arrested with Indian hemp

Techiman, (B/A) Oct. 21, GNA- A man who attempted to transport a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp to Kumasi has been arrested and sent to the police at Techiman in Brong Ahafo. Members of the Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA) at Techiman arrested the suspect who gave his name as Kwaku Adamu from Tain, in Wenchi District in Brong Ahafo.

Mr Kwaku Djan, Station Master of PROTOA told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the station that at about 1200 hours on Thursday, the suspect arrived from Wenchi with the leaves concealed in two luggage. The Station Master said, a Police Officer who was on the same vehicle, which Adamu boarded, smelt an unusual scent, which he suspected to be Indian hemp.

When the Police Officer demanded the ownership of the luggage and Adamu claimed ownership, he was arrested.
