Watchman in trouble for killing a thief

Tema, Oct. 20, GNA – Nicholas Kofi Mensah, a night watchman of Kitoma Farms, near Asutuare Junction has being detained by the Tema police for shooting and killing a thief on his farm.

Briefing the GNA on Wednesday at Tema, Inspector Yaw Nketia Yeboah, Tema Police Regional Public Relations Officer said in the night October 11, 2004, the deceased, together with four others broke into the farms and succeeded in stealing 33 fowls into a taxi cab.

He said the thieves attempted to escape in the cab with registration number GR 2059 H, when Mensah opened fire on them, killing of them instantly, while the rest managed to escape.

He said the police have retrieved the gun and impounded the vehicle to conduct investigations into the case, adding, the Vehicle and Examination and Licensing Division would be approached to trace the owner of the vehicle.

The body of the thief has since been deposited at the Volta River Authority (VRA) mortuary for autopsy.
