Kunbuor Left Constituents To Defend Rawlings ? Chief

The people of the Lawra-Nandom constituency in the Upper West Region have been told to reject Dr. Ben Kunbuor, the incumbent Member of Parliament, who is seeking re-elections in the December polls, because he has spent his entire four-year term defending former President Rawlings to the neglect of his role as a representative of the people.

The Regent of Brifo, Naa Clement Dapila, made the call at a rally organized by the people of Babile in honour of the Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, Mr Ambrose Dery, to show appreciation for his role in connecting the area to the national electricity grid.

?Chiefs are not to play politics as stipulated by the 1992 Constitution, but we owe it a duty to guide and lead our people to do what is in their best interest?, Naa Dapila stated. He accused Dr Kunbuor of making little or no effort to address the development needs of his constituents and asked that he should be voted out.

?We voted for him as Member of Parliament for the Lawra-Nandom constituency to help bring us the needed development and improvement in the lives of the people and not as counsel for former President Rawlings. ?He spent much of his time defending former President Rawlings rather than addressing our concerns. He has not brought us development, and we do not even see him,? he stated.

Naa Dapila urged the people to vote for Mr. Dery, who had within the short period of his appointment as Deputy Minister of justice and Attorney-General addressed some of the needs and concerns of the people. He cited Mr Dery?s contribution to the provision of electricity in Babile and said it was a demonstration that he was development-oriented and should be given the mandate to lead the people of the Lawra-Nandom constituency.
